The Agricultural Broadband Coalition (ABC) welcomes the enactment of H.R. 2, the Agricultural Improvement Act of 2018, and commends Congress and the Trump Administration for including the Precision Agriculture Connectivity Act as Section 12511 of the final bill.

“U.S. farmers and ranchers are deploying more and more data-driven technologies and solutions in their operations, and their need for reliable broadband connections in the field is intensifying. This important provision highlights this need to expand broadband services, including mobile coverage, to U.S. croplands and ranchlands.

“ABC commends Senators Wicker and Klobuchar, and Representatives Latta and Loebsack for bringing attention to the needs of agricultural producers and ensuring they have a seat at the table as U.S. rural broadband policies are developed.” – Nick Tindall, ABC co-chair and Senior Director of Government Affairs at the Association of Equipment Manufacturers

“Bringing together the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the FCC and public and private stakeholders to address the needs of precision agriculture ensures current and future generations of farmers and ranchers will have the necessary connectivity to achieve optimal yields, lower environmental impact and maximize profit. Broadband deployment in unserved and underserved croplands and ranchlands is essential to farmers and ranchers who produce the food, fuel and fiber across the United States and around the world.” – Zippy Duvall, President, American Farm Bureau Federation

“As we move towards the next-generation of farm equipment, it is critically important that our customers have connectivity on their farms to take advantage of the efficiency improvements data-driven solutions can provide. CNH Industrial is pleased to see Congress take a step towards improving connectivity for Ag producers.” – Leandro Lecheta, Chief Operating Officer, North America, CNH Industrial

“Rural Communities depend on broadband to keep their businesses competitive in the marketplace. The inclusion of PACA in the Farm Bill is an important step towards developing widespread broadband internet access on America’s farmland.” – Brian Cavey, Senior Vice President of Government Affairs, CoBank
