“We’re thrilled to announce the winners of the first annual Golden Harvest Go for the Gold contest,” said Ryan Dunsbergen, Golden Harvest soybean product manager. “These farmers are pushing soybean yields by planting elite genetics that perform incredibly well in various types of weather conditions and under a wide range of management practices. Golden Harvest soybeans not only offer high yield potential, but also robust agronomic defensive packages and flexibility in herbicide trait choice.”
Chris and Megan Weaver, who operate Hickory Hollow Farms in Finksburg, Maryland, said their first year growing Golden Harvest soybean varieties was a success.
“We’ve been pushing high-yielding soybeans for several years, but 2022 was our first year growing Golden Harvest soybeans,” said Chris Weaver. “We had a lot of weather challenges last year, including wind, heat and a lack of rain, but we controlled the controllables. We drove the planter slowly to ensure we got a consistent stand, took tissue samples every other week to ensure the soybean plants had the nutrients they needed, and maintained a robust weed management system because if you have weeds, you’re losing yield.”
Chris said Golden Harvest soybean GH3762E3S brand is a consistent-emerging soybean variety, and it handled the drought well. His wife, Megan, also saw success with Golden Harvest soybean GH4222XF brand. They plan to plant both soybean varieties again in 2023.

“GH4222XF is a powerful soybean that we’re pushing hard; we noticed it had a large soybean size and a great disease package,” said Megan Weaver. “We have a strong relationship with the Golden Harvest team in our area. They know seed and the industry better than anyone, so we’ve been able to work together to achieve top-end soybean yields.”
